Teal
now here's the point: i have a sample of Teal pigment, but i strongly suspect it to be a fake. i ordered on thebodyneeds2.com, while i always was very sure of the authenticity of their samples (i have compared to originals), this was the first time i was really doubting. and unfortunately i have never seen the "real Teal" live before. the base colour of this is a matte greenish teal and the shimmer just sits on top. and it kind of stains my skin and remembers me of a cheap chinese eyeshadow quality :(
EDIT: thanks to my fellow blogger and reader, Trey Jones (inyourface.at), who researched for me a little bit, now i know that my Teal sample is authentic. it's MAC, who does that shitty crap of reformulating pigments and making them worse, and not the chinese conterfeit industries. this really has a bitter aftertaste and only pulls me one more step away from MAC.
the new teal is also described as matte base colour with silver sheen on top, and also known for staining. i first hesitated to use it on my lids because i thought it was a fake, but now i still won't. how can i get a sample of the old teal?

Teal was reformulated (used to be bluer and I think different texture). Since I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like now I'd suggest you pose your question on the specktra.net forum. They have their own section for counterfeit MAC
ReplyDeletethank you trey!!!!
ReplyDeleteI always thought, it was just the Minis that could be different.
ReplyDeleteIf you feel like mine looks different than yours we could do a swap, I send you a sample of mine and you send me a sample of one of your pigments :)

yeah, me too. i heard the pigment charms were sometimes different to the originals, but it seems like MAC had reformulated all pigments and made them worse. because i only have a b-counter (without pigments+paint pots and refills) i didn't noticed that.
ReplyDeletemost of my pigments are samples already, so thank you for your offer, but i think i'm ok with teal as the only looser. :)
