NARS blushes revisited! #5 - Desire

this series is just for better pics&swatches. my opinion about the blushes stays the same, take a look at older posts.

NARS blushes contain 4.5 - 4.8g each for the powder blushes, and 5.5g each for the cream blushes.
they cost 29€/19.50£/26$.

Desire is a matte shocking bright hot pink that boarders to neon. in the pan, i can't look at it too long or i get a pink cast for some seconds when i look away hahaha. it's really bright. most photos on the internet don't do it justice, so i was very shocked when i received it ;) (now you are warned, you're welcome. ;)  )
when swatched, it loses a lot of it's brightness and appears like a Barbie pink with blue undertones. when applied, it is an apparent pink that looks like a rather warm dolly flush on my yellowish skin.

the great thing with NARS' matte blushes are their very fine and smooth texture that blends easily without any blotches even if you only use the tiniest amount and the lightest hand (what you definitely should do with this colour!!!) so that you can make a shade that bright and screaming look soft and light and even natural. but remember to apply it to a powdered skin, on fresh foundation i fear it could get blotchy. i apply it with a fluffy blush brush in circular motions with the top of the brush.

i have to repeat another time how i like matte finishes. they aren't exciting and interesting like shimmery pans at the first glance, but will give you a much better result. no large and emphasized pores, no unevenness, just a smooth skin with a flush of colour.
the finish isn't totally matte and makes you look dull, but it has a silky natural sheen to it. if you like to, you can still use a highlighter.
this shade has a excellent staying power as well, no fading even after 12 hours +.

NARS Desire in the shadow: swatched heavily + blended out

this is how it looks worn, a rather light application, no contour or highlighter.

i also compared it to other hot pink blushes of my stash:
MNY Liquid Blush #111A - Kryolan R6 - TopShop cream blush Pinch - NARS Desire - MAC Dollymix - Bobbi Brown Pink Coral
MNY Liquid Blush #111A - Kryolan R6 - TopShop cream blush Pinch - NARS Desire - MAC Dollymix - Bobbi Brown Pink Coral
as you can see it's the most blue-based colour. MAC Dollymix looks somewhat similar, but is shimmery and has a reddish undertone. blended out the effect looks closer, but the shimmer of Dollymix still makes them different.

  3. I love this color. I usually like very glittery blushes, but this actually turned me on to the matte blushes. Great post!
