NARS Lhasa.

NARS Lhasa single eyeshadow was released sometime in winter/spring, it's now in their permanent line-up. i ordered mine few months ago on hqhair.com (i don't recommend to buy NARS on there at all, last time i ordered Outlaw blush it took them 3 weeks to send out my purchase!  >(  !!!)
it comes in the typical sturdy mini compact of rubberized plastic and has a small mirror inside. it contains 2.2g and costs £16.50/24€.
Lhasa is a dark silver with a hint of purple and fine silver shimmer, this is at the same time reason why i needed to have it but also reason why i shouldn't buy it - too big a risk getting a dupe of something i already own!
the texture is very "NARS", rather firmly pressed, but very silky. rather sheer, but buildable. i experienced effortless blendability without fall-outs and an excellent staying power in combination with the NARS Pro Prime Eye Primer. the sheerness and pearly shimmer makes this cool toned colour blend in seamlessly with my skintone and this a versatile lid shade to wear alone or combined with different colours, warm or cool-toned, smokey or bright.
fortunately, it's nothing like any dupe-suspect in my eyeshadow drawer since it's more silver than those  grurples.

look #1

here i applied NARS Lhasa as lid shade and combined it with a bronze burgundy on the outer corner.

look #2

for this look it's Lhasa alone, with a metallic golden bronze liner (Urban Decay Honey).

    1. haha sorry ;P
but since you don't have to fear buying a dupe, i fully support you getting Lhasa! :)

  2. Lhasa is a very beautiful colour, I think it would look great with a vibrant violet as well. As much as I like finding dupes for colours I really don't like having them - sitting in my drawer -. I love your hair btw <3. Beautiful pictures!

    1. thank you Claire! it's amazing how this shade looks good with other colours, it's beautiful with dark blues and even vibrant turquoise, but also with coral pink, gold and so on :)
i also hate to have exact dupes, the only pro is to maybe find the similar colour with better texture. usually i'd toss the one with inferior quality then.

    1. i love such good "teamplayer"-shades! it's easy to combine even with the more unexpected colours like turquoise or coral pink as well, as the blend out/mute down/smoke up colour ;)

  6. very beautiful color but surely not something I couldn't find a billion dupes for the fraction of the price >.<

    1. surely there are many dupes out there for this colour, it's not too special since it's a neutral and every brand does neutrals. probably one can even mix the similar colour with some shades from the 88 palette. the thing we buy with the money is, next to brand image of course, quality. packaging, longevity, texture, formula, complexity and if one looks close at the colour, also uniqueness. surely drugstore brands have stepped up now, i think Catrice and Wet 'n Wild can do very good formulas.

    1. it's good that you had the chance to try it beforehand, though! the money you saved can surely be well invested in something else (*cough*makeup*cough*) ;)

  10. *Trips over self* I've been trying to convince myself that I don't need Lhasa, but this post is very much NOT helping! I tend to find that popular taupes read too red (or too yellow-brown) on my lids, but this one's silvery undertones look gorgeous. <3

    1. that's the same in my case! for example the oh so popular Satin Taupe is just a brownish pumpkin orange on me :( i would always have to go for silvery taupes to get that taupe effect on my lids. i bet Lhasa would look lovely on you.

    1. thank you Lola ♥ ! maybe one of my combo's will work on you? if you dab some shimmery shade on the center of the lids, it will add beautiful impact to Lhasa!

    2. I'm going to try look #1 today, and then look #2 tomorrow-- they are just so gorgeous!! Brilliant idea to add a shimmery shade in the center. I also love the way that you juxtapose cool colors to warm ones-- it's a brilliant way to add depth to a look!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! xxoo <3

  14. This eye shadow absolutely beautiful! I only think I hate about NARS is their rubbery package.

    1. thank you Coco! i agree that the packaging gets dirty very easily, but since i always keep my Nars stuff neatly in closed drawers and am careful not to spill the powder all around, it's ok with me. also, i'm lucky to not have experienced the rubber melting off and getting all soft and gross, like some others had to.

  15. I will have to agree with Rainy Days and Lattes! :) I read somewhere that it's almost a dupe for MAC Shale which is one of my all time favorite eyeshadows but looking at your swatches I don't find them that comparable...I may just need Lhasa in my life! :)

    1. i don't think it's a dupe for Shale. at least on me, Shale has a much more mauvey purple tinge, Lhasa only slightly leans lavender. i also think that Lhasa would be a great addition to your stash ;)

  17. I buy NARS from Kiss and Makeup. Shipping (worldwide) is fast and not expensive.

    1. if i want to order some other brands like Laura Mercier or Trish McEvoy as well, i also love kissandmakeupny.com, but since the official online shop from nars has dropped it's shipping prices (now 8€, when they launched it was 15€ or so) it's ok.
just the 20%-off promotions at hqhair always lure me in - but not any longer. i'm totally pissed off now, you can't even expect a proper answer from the customer service.
