Catrice Coolibri Eye Shadow Pens.

recently i picked up two Eyeshadow Pens from Catrice's limited edition called Coolibri (and in a way i wanted to get something from that collection as a pun on this blog ;) ). i bought the vibrant jade green called C03 Virgin Forest and an azure blue called C02 Birds Flying High ( - you know how i feel. sun in the sky - you know how i feeheeheel ... ^^ ).
i mostly wanted to try those bright shades as eyeshadow bases and thought those could be affordable alternatives for Laura Mercier's Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Turquoise (which is LE for this summer - you can find an excellent review on The Non-Blonde).
they contain 1.64g each and cost something about 3.50€(??). i don't even know if this collection is still available but anyways, i wanted to show you how they swatch and some eye make ups i came up with them.
they are quite creamy and don't set to a smudge-proof finish as quickly as other cream shadows, it bugs me a bit since i'd have to wait before i blend other powder eyeshadows over them. they apply vibrantly with a shimmery finish and are quite easy to blend (i use a MAC 217 or anything with a similar shape), however the result is slightly blotchy. as colourful eyeshadow bases they are convenient and work nicely, though.

C03 Virgin Forest

for the following eye makeup i mainly used a dark green shadow over it (from Clé de Peau Beauté Eye Color Quad #201 Malachite).

C02 Birds Flying High

for this eye makeup i applied MAC Parfait Amour over the blue base, added MAC Contrast on the outer corner, MAC Vex in the inner corners and to blend out Parfait Amour. Rouge Bunny Rouge Periwinkle Cardinal was on my lower lashline. on the lower waterline i was wearing a purple P2 eyeliner.

  1. I would usually be a little scared of these type of colours but they really suit you and i'm definitely tempted away from my usual neutral shades.

    1. thank you for coming by Mahrukh! i think you mean the turquoise maybelline cream shadow, right? i initially wanted to get it but i also think the Catrice one is sufficient if i'm only using it as a base or liner.

    1. oh, i saw an eye make up on lipglossladys.com with that coral one and it was soooo beautiful! maybe i should've gotten this one as well... but in the end, i don't wear such colours too often and already have a few peachy/coral powder eyeshadows.

      how do you like yours?

  6. These are gorgeous, honey! Especially that periwinkle-blue eye -- I'm a sucker for a soft blue-lavender ;)

    1. thank you Rae! i also really like the duochrome effect of the rather sheer Parfait Amour over the turquoise, it tones it down to that periwinkle/lavender effect.

    1. thank you, i think the coral one is really pretty! i should've buy it, but it was sold out everywhere. if i'll stumble across a left-over one, i'll probably get it ;)

  8. You pull of a bright eye really well hon!! It's so fun without looking garish (which is how I feel I look when I wear such bright shades)

    1. thanks, Becca! with my eye shape, it's quite difficult though! i have to be careful not to pull the colour up too much, it can only be a haze above the crease and i'd concentrate the colour on the movable lids, where it's often not really visible -.- i adore the deep set eyes with lots of lid-space of the "western people" (and of course the long and curled lashes <3 )!

  12. I always love these colours. Aqua, jade, soft blue... they're my soft spots.
And they look like they're smudged well on your eye lids!

    (though u said they don't)

Maybe you can even wear these 2 colours together!

    1. thank you! which colours do you prefer? i think purple based neutrals such as MAC Shale or Rouge Bunny Rouge Delicate Hummingbird would flatter green eyes nicely. or golden bronze...
